Today was our monthly Books and Bites, and it came on the day we returned from winter break. It was definitely an enjoyable way to start out second semester!
I usually have sign-ups the week before, but today I had to announce over the PA that I would accept interested students during the lunch hours until the IMC was full and that our winter conditions and snow days prevented me from providing pop or treats.
The program was still very well attended, and the public librarians and I enjoyed presenting titles from the Rebecca Caudill Young Readers’ Book Award list. We also shared some of the Abraham Illinois Lincoln High School Book Award list nominees with the eighth graders. Voting for the Caudill winner is in February, so we always give a final “push” to the nominees during January’s Books and Bites.
